Sílvia Pinto Coelho is a choreographer, dancer/performer, and researcher based in Lisbon. She is currently working on a Post-doctoral project; her research concerns attention and choreographic thinking, dance studies, performance studies, and experimental choreography/experimental cinema.
She holds a PhD in Communication and Arts (Body, Image, and Choreographic Thinking, on choreographic research as speech, the examples of Lisa Nelson, Mark Tompkins, Olga Mesa, and João Fiadeiro, 2016), a Master degree in Contemporary Culture and New Technologies (2010), a License degree in Anthropology (2005), a Bachelor degree in Dance Performance at E.S.D. Lisbon (1996) and did the professional contemporary dance course in Forum Dança (1997/1999).
A resident researcher at ICNOVA-FCSH research centre, collaborates with AND_Lab, baldio – performance studies, and R.I.A. – artistic research net. Coelho has been developing her professional activity as a choreographer, dancer, and performer since 1996. She has produced, choreographed, and participated in several choreographic research processes, live performances, and films with artists from different fields. She presented her own choreographic work in Portugal, Germany, and Spain (selection): Einzimmerwohnung (2004), Süss (2007), Un Femme (2009), Aprés 7 Ans de Malheures Elle Brisa Son Mirroir (2013), Capricho#2 – Outra Coisa (2017), Capricho#12 – Mirror Game (2019). The Procrastination School is a multi-phase research project, active since 2020.
