Rosana Ribeiro is a choreographer and performer. Since 2014 she has been developing her own artistic work inspired by the study of the physical body as a communicator and a transformative entity for human connection. She offers work within the performing arts field alongside a diverse and authentic team of innovative artists in order to fulfil the following mission: inspiring an audience to dive into the creative realm of dreams; engaging oneself and questioning contemporary affairs.
A Salzburg/Lisbon based artist, she navigates her life through constant research within physical theatre, contemporary dance and circus in order to find a synergetic composition of the performative elements.
Rosana was born in Lisbon and started her artistic path when enrolling at the Circus School Chapitô. In 2008 she moved to the UK where she graduated with a BA in Contemporary Dance at the Northern School of Contemporary Dance.
Since then, she has travelled the world performing and collaborating with various international artists and companies. She has performed with/for Hofesh Shechter, Jean Abreu Dance, theMiddletonCorpus, Kim Brandstrup (English National Opera), Evangelia Kolyra, Charlie Morrisey, James Wilton, Signe Fabricius (Royal Opera House) among others.
She has also worked as an Assistant Director with Marine Besnard Choreography in Switzerland and with John La Bouchardière in the UK.
In 2015, she returned to Portugal and joined the company Paulo Ribeiro for their new creation and tour of A Festa da Insignificância, São Castro & António Cabrita for Last and Companhia Instável for Companie 7273’s La nuit tous les chats sont gris.
Her first creations, the solo Fuel and the short-piece Plastisphere were performed at the Resolution! festival at The Place in London.
Selva, her upcoming production, is supported by the National Cultural Centre in Portugal, Land Salzburg and Szene Salzburg.
She is also the Cultural Programmer for the Open Gardens (Jardins Abertos) festival in Lisbon since 2017.
