Nuno Henrique (Funchal, 1982)
Lives and works in Portugal and New York.
Nuno Henrique holds an MFA from Pratt Institute, New York, 2016 and a BA in Sculpture from the School of Fine Arts, University of Porto, 2005. In 2008, he was a production assistant at Porta 33. He attended the Individual Project at Ar.Co in Lisbon between the academic years of 2009 and 2010.
His work has focused mainly on the conjugation of sculpture and drawing. He has been exhibiting regularly since 2009. In 2021, he exhibited “Calendário” at Projecto Travessa da Ermida, Lisbon; in 2020, “Fruta Feia” at Módulo, Lisbon; in 2019 his work “O Mar Vertical” was part of Ilhéstico, a group show curated by Miguel von Hafe Pérez, Porta 33, Funchal.
Nuno Henrique was awarded grants from the following institutions:: Ar.Co/Porta 33, 2009/10; Centro Nacional de Cultura, 2011; Botín, Santander Foundation, 2012; Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian 2012–2014/2016. His works are present in various collections, such as: Ar.Co, Vatican Library, Lisbon City Hall, Gulbenkian Art Library, Carmona e Costa Foundation, Centenera Jaraba Foundation, EDP Foundation, Fernando Figueiredo Ribeiro Collection, MG Collection, Mudas. Contemporary Art Museum.
